Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma on Monday directed officials in Bharatpur district to strengthen drinking water, power supply and medical arrangements amid the ongoing heatwave conditions.
Sharma also asked officials to prepare a long-term plan to tackle waterlogging problems in the city.
Chairing a review meeting of district-level officials in Bharatpur, Sharma said development works and heritage conservation should go hand in hand as Bharatpur is known for its historical legacy.
He instructed officials to increase field visits and regularly monitor development projects.
The chief minister reviewed drinking water supply arrangements in rural areas and directed officials to make tanker supply and water distribution more effective.
Sharma reviewed electricity supply arrangements in the district and directed officials to address transformer load issues and install new transformers where required, according to a release.
He also instructed officials to ensure adequate availability of medicines at CHCs and PHCs, spread awareness regarding protection from extreme heat and conduct surprise inspections through food inspectors.
The chief minister also called for restoration of ancient 'kunds' and promotion of plantation activities in the district.
Reviewing works under the ''Vande Ganga Jal Sanrakshan Jan Abhiyan'', Sharma directed officials to restore anicuts, canals and ponds and ensure cleaning of unlined canals.
He also reviewed the progress of the city gas pipeline project and directed officials to speed up pending construction works while maintaining quality standards.
Earlier, Sharma held a public hearing at the Bharatpur Circuit House and directed officials to ensure prompt resolution of public grievances with transparency and accountability.
