In Tamil Nadu, tensions flared as members of the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) engaged in a violent clash at the Kunnam bus stand on Tuesday. Supporters of both parties gathered in defiance of police orders prohibiting protests, resulting in stone pelting and physical altercations.

The conflict marks a deterioration in the relationship between the VCK and DMK, following VCK's alliance with the newly formed TVK-led government under Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay. Initially, VCK extended support to the TVK during its formation, causing friction with its former ally, DMK.

Several individuals sustained minor injuries before police intervened to disperse the crowd. DMK deputy general secretary A Raja criticized VCK's political maneuvers with a metaphor, yet urged party members to focus on constructive debate as a democratic pillar rather than resorting to violence.
