Ex-SP MLA Irfan Solanki Faces Charges Over Clash at Goat Market
Former Samajwadi Party MLA Irfan Solanki and his associates are accused of assault following a dispute at a goat market in Chamanganj. Tensions rose as traders demanded action. Irfan Solanki, formerly a representative of Samajwadi Party from Sisamau, faces allegations along with his associates for assault and intimidation after a confrontation at a goat market in Chamanganj. The clash escalated, leading to traders and locals voicing protests and demanding police intervention.
Solanki has refuted the charges, stating he and his spouse Nasim Solanki, currently the Samajwadi Party MLA from Sisamau, visited the market to investigate complaints of extortion. The police registered FIRs based on complaints from both sides, highlighting the complicated nature of the incident.
The altercation has resulted in two FIRs. Wafa Abbas, who oversees the annual goat market, accuses Solanki of public abuse and demands for money, claiming he was assaulted and a significant sum of money went missing amidst the chaos. Meanwhile, Azim Ahmad, a security personnel, alleged an assault by Abbas and others.
The investigation is ongoing. Authorities are reviewing CCTV evidence, although as of yet, Solanki has not been visibly implicated in the footage. Police Commissioner Raghubir Lal mentioned the suspension of Azim Ahmad due to negligence during the incident.
