Harsh Deep Malhotra has been appointed as the president of the Delhi BJP, noted for his organisational skills and close association with the RSS. According to party members, Malhotra is expected to bring significant leadership prowess to the role.
The 62-year-old, who succeeds Virendra Sachdeva, is the only Union minister from Delhi in the current government and took up his new responsibilities at the Delhi BJP headquarters. A prominent figure in the Punjabi community, his career includes serving as Union Minister of State in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs and Road Transport and Highways.
Malhotra's political journey began in 2005 as a district general secretary and later as district president in 2007. His contributions continued in the 2012 MCD elections and as mayor of the now-defunct EDMC. Besides politics, he is involved in the NGO Dadhichi Deh Daan Samiti, focusing on encouraging organ and body donations.
