Muslim Groups Advocate for Cow as National Symbol to Foster Unity

In a call for communal harmony, Muslim groups organized a demonstration in the Seelampur area of Delhi following the Eid-ul-Azha prayers. They advocated for the cow to be designated as the national animal, aiming to promote unity and mutual respect across communities.

The march, characterized by banners urging the declaration of cows as a national symbol, is part of a broader appeal led by several Muslim organisations in states like Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind leader Arshad Madani had earlier emphasized this demand to foster societal harmony.

Participants highlighted that the initiative seeks to embody brotherhood and peace across the nation. They stressed that cows are significant to Indian culture and faith, warranting their status as a national animal. The effort is also seen as a way to ease political tensions about cow slaughter and prevent related violence.
