Latvia's Political Shift: New Leader Amid Rising Tensions

Latvia's parliament on Thursday endorsed Andris Kulbergs as the new prime minister, spearheading a centre-right coalition following the collapse of the previous government due to recent security issues.

Security, particularly concerning Latvia's borders, economy, and energy, is at the forefront of the incoming administration's agenda. Kulbergs emphasized that the October 3 election will judge the government's performance.

The coalition, united in supporting Ukraine and prioritizing national security, excludes the Progressives Party, shifting further right. Incidents involving Ukrainian drones have heightened regional tensions with Russia.
