Arunachal Pradesh is actively preparing for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections, with polling set for June 18. Chief Electoral Officer Pawan Kumar Sain led a meeting to coordinate efforts and ensure a transparent election process. Responsibilities for key departments were outlined, and a comprehensive schedule was presented.
The election aims to fill a Rajya Sabha seat as the incumbent's term concludes on June 23. The official notification will be issued on June 1, with nominations closing on June 8 and withdrawals allowed until June 11. Voting will take place from 9 am to 4 pm on June 18, with the counting of votes happening shortly after at 5 pm.
A series of measures include live webcasting, training for election officers, and coordination between multiple departments for security and logistics. The Electoral Commission will receive video footage of the proceedings to enhance transparency. Publicity and awareness campaigns are also planned, with the Information and Public Relations Department and Doordarshan coordinating closely with election authorities.
