Sunetra Pawar gathered with prominent leaders from the Nationalist Congress Party to deliberate on the upcoming Maharashtra legislative council elections slated for June 18. The party is focused on acquiring the constituencies of Raigad, Pune, and Parbhani among the total 17 seats available.
Chhagan Bhujbal, a senior figure in the NCP, noted that the distribution of seats within the Mahayuti coalition, consisting of the BJP and Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena, should be finalized by Saturday noon. Bhujbal expressed confidence in securing Raigad, while decisions on Pune and Parbhani will follow seat-sharing agreements.
The meeting saw attendance from respected party members like Sunil Tatkare, Praful Patel, and Dhananjay Munde. Bhujbal dismissed rumors about a recent disagreement with Tatkare, underlining unity among the leadership.
Key dates for the election process include June 1 for nomination submissions, June 2 for scrutiny, and June 4 as the deadline for withdrawal. The elections are essential as they coincide with the completion of the current MLCs' six-year terms, with the votes to be counted on June 22.
