The Bharatiya Janata Party's Central Election Committee convened on Sunday to deliberate over candidate selection for the upcoming Maharashtra Legislative Council polls. The discussions aimed at evaluating organizational readiness and addressing overdue appointments at both national and state ranks.

This high-level meeting, led by BJP leader Nitin Nabin, had the presence of Narendra Modi to examine the formation of the Uttar Pradesh party team under the new state unit leader, Pankaj Chaudhary. With Uttar Pradesh elections approaching, fortifying the party's electoral groundwork in India's pivotal state is paramount. Besides, political developments in states like Assam and West Bengal, where cabinet extensions are planned, were also reviewed.
