On Wednesday, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) made a significant organizational shift by appointing veteran Congress leader BK Hariprasad as the new president of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC). This decision follows the resignation of DK Shivakumar as he stepped into his new role as the Chief Minister of Karnataka, a move formalized through an official order from Congress general secretary (organisation), KC Venugopal.

The official notification clarified that Hariprasad's appointment is effective immediately, marking a pivotal change for the Karnataka Congress party's internal structure, subsequent to Shivakumar's elevation. Venugopal emphasized gratitude towards DK Shivakumar for his impactful tenure as the state PCC President, particularly his leadership during the 2023 Assembly elections where the party emerged victorious.

Shivakumar, who accepted the Chief Ministerial post at a ceremony attended by a host of dignitaries, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has been credited for revitalizing the party in Karnataka. Modi, along with Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, extended their congratulations acknowledging his invaluable contributions. The Congress leadership reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining Karnataka's development and addressing the people's aspirations.
