The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a 'Yellow' alert in anticipation of a heatwave across several districts in Jharkhand, an official confirmed on Thursday.
The temperature is predicted to rise by as much as five degrees Celsius over the next five days, particularly affecting districts in the Santhal Pargana region, including Deoghar, Jamtara, Dumka, Pakur, Godda, and Sahibganj starting May 10. According to Abhishek Anand, deputy director at Ranchi Meteorological Centre, Giridih and Dhanbad counties may also experience the heatwave from May 11 to May 14.
The weather conditions are expected to worsen due to persistent dry weather and westerly winds, leading to soaring temperatures, which currently range between 36 and 39 degrees Celsius across the state.
