Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal emphasized the urgent need for collaboration between Central and state departments to expedite the execution of critical port projects in Maharashtra. During a high-stakes meeting in Mumbai, he underscored the strategic value of the state's maritime infrastructure, calling for expedited approvals for ongoing and proposed projects.
Addressing the meeting alongside state officials, Minister for Fisheries and Ports Nitesh Rane praised the joint consultation as a significant step towards enhancing Maharashtra's coastal development. He stressed the necessity for timely permissions from Central agencies to ensure cost-effectiveness and efficient project implementation.
Key projects discussed included the Vaibhavwadi-Kolhapur railway, Anandwadi port, and Ro-Ro ferry services. The meeting aimed to facilitate smoother approvals and reduce bureaucratic hindrances, with the goal of completing Maharashtra's projects under the Sagarmala programme by 2026.
