In a night of tragedy for Kyiv, Russian drone and missile attacks claimed the lives of five individuals and caused extensive injuries, Ukrainian officials reported on Monday. The onslaught incited fires in residential neighborhoods and damaged crucial city infrastructure, including a metro station entrance that doubles as a bomb shelter.
Kyiv's military administration leader, Timur Tkachenko, criticized the attacks on the Telegram app, denoting the Russian tactics as deliberately targeting civilians. Meanwhile, rescue operations persist as people remain trapped under debris in the heavily hit Shevchenkivskyi district.
The city's governor, Mykola Kalashnik, provided a grim update on the situation, highlighting continued efforts to manage casualties and structural damage across several districts. Eyewitnesses shared images of emergency responders aiding affected residents amidst the chaos.
