The national capital is gearing up for an early monsoon arrival, with predictions indicating it will hit on June 24, several days ahead of its typical schedule. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has placed Delhi under a yellow alert as rain and thunderstorms loom large.
Weather conditions are favorable for the monsoon to advance through parts of Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi. Private forecaster Skymet supports the claims, expecting increased humidity and easterly winds to accompany falling temperatures.
This year could see the earliest monsoon onset in Delhi since 2013. While recent years have seen varied monsoon arrivals, with last year reaching June 28, this early onset brings potential for impactful weather conditions.
