Perilous Plunge: Urgent Search for Brazilian Hiker on Mount Rinjani

Emergency response teams in Indonesia are racing against time in a bid to locate Juliana Marins, a Brazilian hiker who tragically fell off a cliff while trekking Mount Rinjani. The search, now in its fourth day, involves fifty rescuers battling steep and sandy terrain to find Marins.

Mount Rinjani, Indonesia's second-highest peak and a favorite among tourists, turned into a scene of distress after the 27-year-old Marins slipped and fell from a significantly steep cliff. Located in West Nusa Tenggara province, the mountain's volatile environment poses an added challenge to the rescue operations.

Despite support from drone technology and a helicopter, the thick fog and the loose sandy ground continue to hinder progress. Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni announced the closure of the hiking track, both to facilitate rescue efforts and as a tribute to Marins and her family.
