Uttarakhand Seeks Central Support for Development and Migration Control
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami urged the Central government to ease policies for Uttarakhand and enhance infrastructure in border districts. At a meeting chaired by Home Minister Amit Shah, he sought a grant to establish a glacier study centre, a biodiversity conservation institution, and other developmental initiatives.

In a bid to promote development and curb migration in Uttarakhand, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has called upon the Central government to relax certain policy guidelines for the state.
During the Central Zonal Council meeting led by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Varanasi, Dhami stressed the need for improved road and communication infrastructure in the border districts to deter migration from the hills. He also requested a one-time grant under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana to establish a high-level glacier study centre dedicated to studying the effects of climate change.
Additionally, the Chief Minister sought support for organizing the Nanda Rajjat Yatra and the 2027 Kumbh Mela on a grand scale. Describing Uttarakhand's strategic significance, Dhami requested more assistance from the Border Roads Organisation and emphasized developing facilities in border villages under the Vibrant Village programme to curtail migration.
