A female elephant was discovered deceased in the village of Hevan, located in Jharkhand's Seraikela-Kharswan district, on Wednesday morning. The carcass was noticed by villagers en route to their paddy fields, prompting immediate notification to the forest department.
The forest department has launched an investigation into the mysterious death, with the exact cause yet to be determined pending the results of a postmortem examination.
This incident follows the death of another elephant in the Chandil sub-division of the same district on June 5, raising concerns about the safety of wildlife in the area.
