The Bhaderwah-Chamba interstate road resumed vehicular traffic, reigniting tourism optimism in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda district. The road had been closed for over two months following the deadly Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed 26 lives, including 25 tourists.
Connecting Jammu & Kashmir with Himachal Pradesh, the road winds through stunning destinations like Padri Gali and Khanni Top in Doda and Khundi Maral in Chamba. After authorities lifted the travel ban, visitor numbers surged, according to officials.
On June 17, other destinations such as Sarthal and Dhaggar in Kathua, along with Reasi's Devipindi and Siyad Baba, had also reopened to tourists. Deputy Commissioner Doda Harvinder Singh inspected Padri Top, ensuring security measures and tourism infrastructure were in place, with expectations of nationwide tourist influx.
