Extreme weather conditions wreaked havoc on Sydney's air travel on Tuesday as severe winds and torrential rain forced the cancellation of numerous flights.
The Australian Bureau of Meteorology cautioned about a potent low-pressure system threatening flash floods in the southeast, while wind gusts of up to 125 kph were predicted for coastal areas.
In response, New South Wales emergency services assigned over 1,000 volunteers to tackle the escalating situation. The weather is expected to move offshore into the Tasman Sea by Wednesday.
