The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted heavy to very heavy rainfall over several Indian states, including Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh, over the coming week. This anticipated weather pattern is part of a broader seasonal monsoon activity affecting central and northwest India.
According to IMD, heavy rain is likely to sweep across central India, impacting regions such as Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and parts of Maharashtra and Gujarat. The northeast will not be spared, with isolated areas potentially receiving significant downpours.
IMD Director General Mrutyunjay Mohapatra emphasized the importance of monitoring river catchment areas prone to flooding, such as those in Uttarakhand and Haryana. Necessary precautions should be taken given the probability of above-normal rain, particularly in regions with vulnerable waterways.
