In an effort to support farmers, Punjab's new land-pooling scheme offers a compelling financial deal. Farmers will initially secure Rs 50,000 per acre, with this amount set to double upon government acquisition of their land.

According to Housing and Urban Development Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian, a 10 percent annual hike will be added until the completion of land development. Consultations with farmers from 164 villages are underway to ensure their concerns are considered.

While facing opposition criticism labeling the initiative a 'looting' scheme, the state government remains committed to its promise of Rs 1 lakh per acre and continues to engage with the farming community to refine the policy.
