A tragic incident unfolded in Rajasthan's Alwar district when a truck carrying kanwariyas, devotees of Lord Shiva, came into contact with a low-hanging electric wire. The mishap resulted in the death of two individuals and left 30 others injured, according to local police reports.
This unfortunate accident occurred during a 'parikrama,' a ritual circumambulation of the village, involving both kanwariyas and local residents. The collision of the truck with the ill-maintained power line led to the electrocution of the passengers.
The aftermath saw the residents block the Laxmangarh-Mundawar road in protest of the neglected wires. Despite previous complaints to authorities, no remedial action was undertaken. Local officials, including Laxmangarh tehsildar Mamta Kumari, claimed ignorance of the complaints. An investigation has been promised by the administration, alongside assurances of appropriate medical care for the victims.
