BBMP Chief Commissioner Maheshwar Rao has taken a significant step towards sustainability by ordering the setup of leaf composting units in parks across Bengaluru. This initiative aims to manage waste effectively by processing it at the source and reusing the resultant compost within the parks.
During his visit to the South zone under the 'Mukhya Ayuktara Nade Valayada Kade' initiative, Rao emphasized the necessity of equipping each zone with shredder machines to handle fallen tree branches, particularly during the monsoon season, which often sees heavy rains causing debris.
Residents also brought attention to the issue of inadequate street lighting in the South zone. Rao's response was swift, instructing the replacement of all non-functional lights and urging officials to conduct thorough night inspections, ensuring safety and efficiency in the area's infrastructure.
