The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rains along with thunderstorms for most parts of Arunachal Pradesh over the upcoming two days. Key districts such as Papum Pare, Lohit, and West Siang are projected to be among the most severely impacted areas.
The weather agency highlighted potential challenges including reduced visibility, disruption of road traffic due to waterlogging, and tree uprooting, especially affecting urban and semi-urban regions. Flooding in low-lying zones, as well as an increased likelihood of landslides and mudslides in hilly areas, is anticipated.
Power and communication lines are at risk of being damaged by fallen tree branches. The IMD also warned that agricultural and horticultural fields could incur damage due to continuous rain and strong winds. Residents are advised to avoid flood-prone areas, steer clear of landslide zones, and stay indoors during thunderstorms to evade lightning-related injuries.
