At an event by the V.O. Chidambaranan Port Authority, Sonowal highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Maritime India Vision 2030, which promotes sustainable practices among the nation's ports.

Shipping Secretary T K Ramachandran urged the development of expertise in handling green hydrogen technologies, while VOC Port chairman Sushanta Kumar Purohit and IWAI chairman Vijay Kumar emphasized the collective mission of sustainability to meet India's 2070 net-zero target.
