In the wake of torrential rains in Himachal Pradesh, vehicular traffic has come to a standstill as 404 roads, including the Khab-Gramphu National Highway, are closed. The downpours have significantly affected regions like Mandi, Chamba, and Kullu, according to the State Emergency Operation Centre. As of Friday evening, Una recorded the highest rainfall with 260.8 mm, resulting in severe disruptions to daily life, particularly in markets and residential areas.

The relentless rain has led to the closure of educational institutions, as a precautionary measure following road blockages and flooding in numerous locales. Officials have reported damages to power distribution transformers and water supply schemes, impacting basic utilities across the state. Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri reaffirmed the government's full alert status and ongoing efforts to prioritize resident safety in disaster-hit areas, while the district administration takes swift action to manage the crisis.

Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla visited affected areas, notably Tungal Colony, extending support to families hit by rain-related incidents. Despite substantial losses estimated at Rs 1,692 crore since the monsoons began, the state remains resilient. With 101 rain-related fatalities reported, efforts are intensifying to address flooding and infrastructure challenges, especially with developments like the partial breach at Malana-II Hydropower project causing further complications.
