Residents along the banks of River Bhavani have been alerted to potential flooding as water levels rise due to rain and dam discharge. The Public Works Department and Revenue Department issued the warning early Tuesday following heavy inflow into reservoirs.
At 8 am, the water level at the Lower Bhavani Project Reservoir was approaching maximum capacity, prompting officials to begin controlled water releases into surrounding canals and the river itself. The river's residents in Bhavanisagar, Sathyamangalam, Gobichettipalayam, and Bhavani areas are advised to relocate to safer locations with their belongings.
Police and Revenue officials are on the ground to oversee these emergency measures, helping to ensure the safety of both people and property as water is diverted into local canals for drinking water supplies.
