Mysterious Elephant Poaching in Mudumalai: An Investigation Underway

A male elephant has been discovered dead under mysterious circumstances in the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve area, Nilgiris district, with its tusks missing, the forest department announced on Wednesday.

Upon examination, officials determined that the elephant likely perished around four months ago, sparking suspicion of poaching for its tusks.

The unsettling discovery on August 5 has led to a formal case registration, and a thorough investigation is currently underway.
