As a cyclonic circulation looms over the Bay of Bengal, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands are poised to face intense rainfall starting September 17. The meteorological department forecasts a significant downpour, along with thunderstorms and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40 km per hour.
Authorities have issued urgent advisories for tourists, locals, and fishermen to stay away from maritime activities. Sea conditions are expected to become harsh, heightening the risk factor for anyone venturing into the waters.
The Directorate of Shipping Services warns of potential disruptions, including the rescheduling or cancellation of ferry services across various islands, due to the anticipated inclement weather.
