Landslides and flooding triggered by relentless rain have devastated Chamoli district in Uttarakhand. More than 30 houses across four villages were flattened, leaving 14 people feared trapped and 20 others injured. The disaster's epicenter is in Nandanagar, an area already burdened by land subsidence.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, after assessing the situation, reported that significant destruction has occurred in Kuntari Lagaphali, Kuntari Lagasarpani, Sera, and Dhurma villages. Search and rescue operations are in full swing as National and State Disaster Response Forces are actively deployed in the affected zones.
Dhami has instructed for rapid restoration of essential services and medical support, with severe cases being airlifted to AIIMS, Rishikesh. Access roads remain blocked, complicating relief efforts. Meanwhile, ongoing rains heightened concerns of further damage, as seen in the Mokh Valley's recent devastation.
