The Peenya Industrial Association has made an urgent plea to Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, calling for immediate road repairs within and surrounding the Peenya Industrial Area (PIA). The association warns that neglecting the infrastructure could drive industries to relocate to other states.
In a letter addressed to Shivakumar, the association's president, Danappa D P, highlighted the deteriorating conditions of the roads within the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) and Karnataka State Small Industries Development Corporation (KSSIDC) areas. He emphasized that more than 25 adjoining private industrial zones are plagued by potholes and damaged roadways.
The association pointed out that prolonged negligence leads to risks in goods movement and everyday industry hardships, potentially resulting in a cutback in state investment and jobs. Notable is the recent decision by logistics firm BlackBuck to leave Bengaluru owing to poor road conditions, spotlighting the urgent need for intervention.
