The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather alert for Odisha as a low-pressure area formed over the Bay of Bengal on Monday, sparking fears of heavy rain across the region.
The low-pressure area, influenced by an upper air cyclonic circulation, is expected to affect northeast Bay of Bengal, with additional systems likely to exacerbate conditions through the end of September.
The IMD has warned of very heavy rain in Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts, with wind speeds of up to 60 kmph forecast along the coast. Orange warnings have been issued for these areas, urging residents to prepare for adverse weather.
