In an urgent response to recent natural disasters, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has commanded the rapid completion of flood damage assessments and infrastructure restoration. Heavy downpours resulted in flash floods across various districts, causing extensive damage and prompting immediate governmental intervention.
The inclement weather wreaked havoc on key infrastructure, with 330 bridges and 1,500 kilometers of road reported destroyed, as well as significant damage to private properties, including homes and farmlands. Chief Minister Abdullah emphasized the need for fast-paced rehabilitation efforts to address these widespread issues.
With many roads now reopened, Abdullah has urged department officers to ensure the swift restoration of all remaining closed routes. The government remains focused on timely relief distribution and comprehensive recovery projects.
