The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for the Jharkhand districts of Garhwa, Palamu, and Chatra as the region faces heavy showers, according to officials.

A yellow alert extends to districts including Latehar, Hazaribag, Bokaro, Koderma, Giridih, and Dhanbad until October 4, officials reported. Notably, numerous areas like Koderma, Chatra, Hazaribag, and the state capital Ranchi received significant rainfall on Wednesday.

IMD's Ranchi Meteorological Centre in-charge, Abhishek Anand, forecasts light to moderate rainfall for October 2, with the possibility of heavy rainfall in isolated regions. The conditions are expected to persist, accompanied by thunderstorms and gusts up to 40 km/h until October 6. A yellow alert has also been issued for areas such as Lohardaga, Gumla, and Simdega until October 3, with expected temperature drops of 3-5 degrees Celsius over the next three days.
