The Telangana government has issued a call for Expressions of Interest (EOI) from design agencies to develop rehabilitation and restoration designs for three key barrages in the Kaleshwaram irrigation project. This effort aims to address the damage highlighted by investigations following the National Dam Safety Authority's (NDSA) directives.

The irrigation department is particularly focused on restoring the Medigadda, Annaram, and Sundilla barrages. Design agencies must submit proposals by October 15 at the Central Designs Organisation under the supervision of the Chief Engineer.

Critics, including the opposition BRS, have lambasted the Congress government for its inaction in addressing previous damages. The National Dam Safety Authority previously labelled the Kaleshwaram project as a potential 'biggest man-made disaster'. Following intense legislative debates, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has proposed a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into alleged project mismanagement.
