Heavy monsoon rains have unleashed devastation across Nepal and northeast India, resulting in landslides and flash floods that have claimed numerous lives. Nepal has reported at least 47 fatalities since Friday, with the Ilam district heavily affected, according to government officials.
In India, similar weather conditions have led to at least seven deaths in the Darjeeling area, as confirmed by local police. Efforts are underway to rescue missing persons and recover bodies from debris.
Despite continued rainfall posing a threat, authorities in both countries are implementing measures to mitigate further damage and assist affected populations, as heavy rains are expected to persist until Monday.
