Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today inaugurated a crucial segment of the Patna Metro, a move that coincided with imminent assembly election announcements. The inauguration marks the opening of a 3.45-km elevated corridor encompassing the Patliputra Bus Terminal, Zero Mile, and Bhoothnath stations, designated as the project's priority corridor.

Furthermore, Kumar laid foundation stones for the construction of six underground metro stations, including the key Patna Junction, alongside a 9.35-km tunnel connecting them. In an event showcasing state progress, Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Singh joined Kumar in a ceremonial ride on the newly opened metro line.

The metro coaches are uniquely adorned with Madhubani paintings, reflecting Bihar's rich cultural heritage. This initiative is funded collaboratively by the Japan International Cooperation Agency, the Indian government, and Bihar's state government, collectively aiming to operationalize the full metro lines by 2027, with security managed by the Bihar Special Armed Police.
