Tragedy Strikes: Man Killed in Elephant Attack
A 62-year-old man named Velusamy was killed by a wild elephant in Poopara district. The incident occurred while he worked on a cardamom farm. In a tragic incident on Monday, a 62-year-old man named Velusamy was fatally attacked by a wild elephant in Poopara, a high-range district. According to police, Velusamy was working on a private cardamom farm when the attack occurred.
Local residents, alerted by his cries for help, rushed to the scene but were unable to approach as the elephant remained nearby. They eventually managed to drive the animal away, but unfortunately, Velusamy had already succumbed to his injuries by the time they reached him.
Police and forest officials later arrived at the scene and transported the body to a government hospital in Adimali. Officials have registered a case of unnatural death and initiated an investigation as wild elephant attacks are reported to be frequent in the area. A Forest Rapid Response Team has been deployed to address this growing concern.
