A raging fire engulfed more than 100 shanties in Shakur Basti, northwest Delhi, leaving them in ashes, according to a report from the Delhi Fire Service on Saturday. Thankfully, there were no casualties.

The fire was first reported at 11.14 pm on Friday, prompting the dispatch of five fire tenders. However, as the fire spread rapidly over a two-acre area, additional resources were deployed to tackle the blaze.

Officials attribute the swift spread to the use of highly inflammable materials in the construction of the jhuggies. The fire was brought under control by 12.40 am, but cooling efforts continued to prevent any rekindling. The cause remains unknown as investigations are underway.
