A massive fire erupted at a plastic factory and warehouse in Gurugram's Bajghera area on Sunday, compelling authorities to evacuate nearby areas. The blaze was first noticed around 5 am by factory workers who initially tried to extinguish it before contacting the fire brigade and police.
Firefighters, using half a dozen tenders, battled the inferno for nearly four hours before bringing it under control. Thick smoke from the blaze caused panic in six neighboring residential societies. The fire, which spread to two adjacent wood warehouses, led to precautionary evacuations of the surrounding area.
Officials suspect a spark or short circuit to be the cause, though the exact reason remains unknown. The area's numerous scrap crushers and the presence of plastic materials contributed to the firefighting difficulties. Fortunately, no person or animal was trapped in the blaze.
