The Municipal Corporation of Delhi's Standing Committee has greenlit the proposal to confer urban status upon 48 villages, a strategic step towards enhancing civic infrastructure. This decision, announced by Chairperson Satya Sharma, seeks to streamline service delivery in areas like roads, sewerage, and waste management.
This initiative aligns with Delhi's Master Plan 2041, facilitating systematic development in areas that have already acquired urban characteristics. By formally recognizing these villages, the MCD aims to improve planning and regulation, ensuring efficient urban management.
The proposal awaits further approvals from the House and central authorities. Once published in the official gazette, it will formalize the urban status, providing a framework to tackle unauthorized construction and regulate building activities effectively.
