Heat Advisory: Navigating the May Heatwave

Union Minister Jitendra Singh addressed public concerns on Saturday, ensuring that while May might bring increased heat, there is no reason for alarm if precautions are taken. He highlighted that the India Meteorological Department's advisories can guide citizens, with preparedness key to handling potential heat waves.

Emphasizing the readiness of the government, Singh outlined measures to be taken at state and district levels, including ensuring water supply, cooling facilities, and consistent electricity. The minister stressed the importance of support for vulnerable populations like infants, the elderly, and outdoor workers.

Singh also noted the favorable conditions for harvesting late Rabi crops in northern regions. However, he cautioned farmers in the south and northeast of possible crop impacts due to localized heat stress, advising strategic farming practices and livestock care.
