Mystery of the Decomposed Leopard in Maharashtra

In Maharashtra's Beed district, officials reported on Saturday that a highly decomposed leopard carcass was found in a sugarcane field in Ashti taluka. The 12-year-old leopard was discovered on Friday in Limbodi village.

The advanced decomposition rendered a post-mortem impossible, leaving officials unable to determine the exact cause of death. The animal, found with all body parts intact, including teeth and claws, was likely not a victim of poaching, authorities stated.

Forest and veterinary officials speculated that old age or severe heat might have contributed to the leopard's demise. After completing an official panchnama, a late-night cremation was held.
