Paving the Path to Sustainability: The Asia Low Carbon Buildings Transition
The Asia Low Carbon Buildings Transition Project (ALCBT) is a five-year initiative aimed at transitioning to low-carbon buildings in five Asian countries, including India. Backed by international and local partners, the project has made significant strides in emissions reduction and energy efficiency through training, assessments, and strategic partnerships.
The Asia Low Carbon Buildings Transition Project (ALCBT) is leading the charge toward a sustainable future across five Asian nations. With the backing of the German government and the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), the initiative seeks to establish low-carbon buildings that promise direct emissions reductions by 2028.
In India, substantial progress is evident as the project garners support from various stakeholders, including State Designated Agencies. A significant milestone achieved is the creation of a buildings registry that currently covers 1,687 structures, with 302 already assessed using the innovative Building Emission Assessment Tool.
With targeted retrofits and extensive professional training, ALCBT aims to bolster energy efficiency. Meanwhile, partnerships with organizations like the India Smart Grid Forum are amplifying project visibility, paving the way for broader adoption of sustainable building practices in the region.
