Andhra Pradesh Minister for Education, IT, and Electronics, Nara Lokesh, has announced plans to develop an integrated township in Amaravati. This project, inspired by Singapore's Punggol district, aims to establish Amaravati as a model urban development initiative in India.

During a meeting in Singapore, Lokesh urged the Joint Implementation Working Committee to expedite the project's procedures and seek World Bank support. The state aims to leverage Singapore's urban development expertise through consistent collaborations and consultations, as outlined in a Memorandum of Understanding signed last year.

Furthermore, Lokesh highlighted Andhra Pradesh's efforts to enhance global trade connectivity, particularly through strategic partnerships with Singapore. The state is focusing on port-led industrialization and aims to become a meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) destination, modeling its infrastructure on Singapore's Suntec City.
