The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has embarked on an ambitious project to restore 101 water bodies across the capital by the end of August. Announcing the initiative, Lt Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu emphasized the importance of ecological restoration through deep desilting and catchment clearance, aiming to maximize groundwater recharge during the monsoon.

Launching the project at District Park in Paschim Vihar, Sandhu highlighted how this effort is in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for long-term water security. He asserted that the work would proceed in 'mission-mode' to ensure the timely completion of the project by August 30.

The initiative seeks to revive Delhi's 'blue lungs' and enhance the city's ecological resilience. Sandhu called on officials to adhere strictly to timelines and maintain high execution standards across all sites. He also urged residents to participate actively in reclaiming Delhi's aquatic heritage for a greener, more water-secure future.
