Tragedy unfolded along the banks of the Ganga river in Rishikesh this Saturday, as two separate incidents resulted in death and disappearance. Sonu Verma, a bus conductor from Delhi, lost his life while bathing at Sai Ghat when strong currents swept him away.

Despite the swift response from the State Disaster Response Force, Verma's body was only found later, submerged at a depth of 15 to 20 feet. He had been visiting Rishikesh with others and took a momentary dip in the river that turned fatal.

In a parallel incident near Shivpuri, Rajasthan native Ved Prakash vanished after being caught by fierce currents while bathing with friends. Search and rescue operations continue under challenging conditions, with officials cautioning the public against bathing in unfamiliar or perilous areas.
