Forest officials successfully captured a leopard on Sunday, bringing relief to Shahapur, located in Maharashtra's Thane district. This follows the tragic incident nearly a month ago when the leopard killed an eight-year-old child.
The predator was caught after it wandered into a cage set up in the area late Saturday night, addressing weeks of fear in numerous villages throughout the region, according to an official from the forest department's Dolkhamb division. Senior Inspector Suresh Gavit of the Kasara police station confirmed the news.
A medical examination will be conducted on the leopard before deciding on its relocation or release. A video circulating on social media captured the moment when local villagers, including children, jubilantly followed the vehicle transporting the caged leopard.
