Conserving Biodiversity: TTD's Green Initiative in Seshachalam Hills
The TTD has achieved 89.4% forest cover in Tirumala, restoring native species in the Seshachalam Hills. The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has made a significant environmental achievement by covering 89.4% of Tirumala with forests, as per the latest India State of Forest Report.
Efforts initiated since 1980 have focused on maintaining ecological balance, curbing illegal activities, and reintroducing native plant species. The TTD Forest Department operates under strict supervision to enforce these conservation measures.
Wildlife protection is another priority, with measures to mitigate human-animal conflicts and rescue injured animals. Beyond conservation, TTD supports temple rituals and local greenery projects, underlining its role as both a spiritual and ecological steward.
