Maharashtra's Pledge to Protect Fishermen Amid Sea Bridge Concerns

Maharashtra's fisheries and ports minister, Nitesh Rane, declared the state government's dedication to resolving the grievances of fishermen affected by the Nhava Sheva-Shivdi sea bridge project.

The minister announced that the issues will be presented to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis as a priority. In a high-level meeting at Mantralaya, Rane emphasized the administration's commitment to finding equitable solutions addressing compensation, rehabilitation, and the project's impact on fishing.

The meeting saw participation from Fisheries Commissioner Prerana Deshbhratar, representatives from local fishermen's organizations, and various department officials, with some joining via video conferencing. Detailed discussions covered compensation and future measures, while reports are awaited for further action.
